The Chakras Print explores the history and
meaning behind a subject many of us first encounter as a rainbow of seven
colours. Its detailed text traces how chakra teachings developed through
different traditions and how the familiar seven-chakra model came to be
understood today.

Look closer to discover the subtle body, nāḍīs and kuṇḍalinī,
alongside the lotuses, sounds and symbols used in traditional practice. The
print also explores modern interpretations, inviting you to see how these
different ideas came together. The text can be read directly from the artwork.

Paper: Printed on 250 gsm museum-quality matte paper that is acid-free and FSC-certified, with a soft matte finish and a natural off-white tone.

Frames: If you choose a framed print, it comes in a
pine wood frame with clear, shatterproof plexiglass and a hanging kit.

I believe we are more than our physical bodies. We have a mind, a soul, an energetic body, and I’m curious about how these parts of us shape our human experience.

For centuries, people have used the chakras to work with energy and consciousness, giving form to inner experiences through symbols, sounds, deities and spiritual practice. As these ideas travelled and evolved, they took on new layers of meaning.

When I was choosing the subject for my next collection, the chakras felt like a natural place to begin. They connect with my spirituality and with questions I keep returning to about who we are. I created these prints to bring their imagery, history and different interpretations together in artwork you can live with, read and return to. I hope they inspire you to explore these questions in your own way.

The Chakra Collection brings together traditional symbolism and modern interpretations. Two key works that informed the research are:

  • Harish Johari, Chakras: Energy Centers of Transformation
  • The Ṣaṭcakranirūpaṇa, as translated and discussed by Sir John Woodroffe (Arthur Avalon) in The Serpent Power

The prints also explore later ideas about the chakras and their place in everyday life. These interpretations come from a wider range of modern approaches and should not all be attributed to the two works listed above. The text on each print is an original account created for Ray of Light Prints.
