The inspiration for this print, as well as The Elements of the World Print in the Project 2 series, came while reading the opening pages of Living Untethered by Michael A. Singer. In it, Singer describes us as tiny beings sitting on a spinning ball of dirt somewhere in the universe and briefly touches on the origins of matter.
You hear these ideas—how the universe took 13.8 billion years to make us—but it’s easy to overlook just how incredible it is. The world, and everything around us, is made of elements forged by stars. Every moment, every event, had to unfold perfectly to bring us here. If even one thing had happened differently, the human race might not exist at all.
This realisation inspired The Evolution of the Universe Print, which explores the creation of the universe, stars, and elements, and The Elements of the World Print, which focuses on the 94 elements that naturally occur on Earth.
